PPI Winter Conference 2025: Invest in Your Craft, Invest in Yourself

Just got back from the Professional Photographers of Iowa (PPI) Winter Conference, and it was a really fantastic experience. This year’s conference in 2025 was definitely worthwhile. I came away feeling energized and inspired after a weekend of learning, connecting with friends, and even some unexpected recognition.

One of the best parts of PPI is always the people. It was so good to catch up with photographer friends – people who truly understand the passion and the unique challenges of this field. Beyond those familiar faces, I also had the chance to connect with some really insightful new mentors. Hearing their experiences and advice was incredibly valuable, and I’m looking forward to continuing those conversations. These connections are such an important part of what makes the photography community so strong.
I was also really excited to attend classes with Lindsay Adler. Learning from someone with her expertise in fashion and portrait photography was a real opportunity. Her classes were packed with practical information and creative ideas that I’m eager to start incorporating into my own work.

And then there was the awards ceremony. I was genuinely surprised and honored to receive 1st place in the Non-Masters Indoor Group Category! It’s a very encouraging feeling to have your work acknowledged by fellow photographers, and it gives me a great boost to keep developing my skills and exploring new creative directions.

Overall, the PPI Winter Conference was a really positive experience and a great investment in my photography journey. I left feeling inspired, with a lot to think about and practice, and very appreciative of the supportive photography community in Iowa. Thanks to PPI for putting together such a great event!

If you’re a photographer in Iowa, I definitely recommend checking out the Professional Photographers of Iowa. It’s a really valuable organization to be involved with.
